| Expert Advice | Good medication for preventing blood clots. For best results, take Warfarin at the same time every day. Requires regular blood test (PT-INR), to make sure Warfarin is working properly. Warfarin increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling). Notify your doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood). Interacts with food or other medicines; hence require frequent dose changes. If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Warfarin temporarily. Warfarin should not be used in the pregnancy. You may breastfeed. Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems. |

Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Avoid Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets with Vitamin K rich food such as spinach, collards, broccoli, spring onions, cucumber and dried basil. |

| Kidney | Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets is recommended.However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Regular blood tests are recommended when you are taking this medicine. |
| Liver | Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets may be needed. Please consult your doctor. |
| Mechanism of action | Warfarin Sodium 5 Tablets is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems. |
