Alchohol Interaction Spironolactone and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Aldactone 50mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Aldactone 50mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. \nHuman studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Expert Advice Your doctor has prescribed Aldactone along with other medicines to get rid of excess fluids in your body. Avoid driving or using machinery if you feel dizzy after taking Aldactone. Avoid potassium-rich supplements or salt substitutes when taking Aldactone. Aldactone may cause breast pain/swelling, irregular periods (women), or trouble with sexual performance. You may have muscle weakness, skin changes, and red or black tarry stool. Your frequency of urination will increase within 2 to 3 days of taking Aldactone.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Vomiting, Leg cramps, Dizziness, Drowsiness, Confusion, Breast enlargement in male, Increased creatinine level in blood.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Aldactone 50mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Aldactone 50mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Aldactone 50mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Aldactone 50mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Aldactone 50mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver There is limited information available on the use of Aldactone 50mg Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Aldactone 50mg Tablet is a potassium-sparing diuretic. It lowers blood pressure and swelling by removing the extra water and electrolytes from the body without loss of potassium.
