Alchohol Interaction Taking Bisoprolol with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Biscor-SA Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Biscor-SA Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Sleepiness, Headache, Ankle swelling, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Slow heart rate, Tiredness, Palpitations, Nausea, Edema (swelling), Constipation, Cold extremities.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Biscor-SA Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Take it preferably in the morning.
Driving Biscor-SA Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney Biscor-SA Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Biscor-SA Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular blood pressure monitoring is advisable for dose adjustment.
Liver Biscor-SA Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Biscor-SA Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Biscor-SA Tablet is started at a lower dose in these patients and further increased slowly with careful monitoring.
Mechanism of action Biscor-SA Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and bisoprolol which lower blood pressure effectively. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker which works by relaxing blood vessels while bisoprolol is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart to slow down the heart rate. Together, they make the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.
