Alchohol Interaction Amitrip AZ Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Amitrip AZ Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Amitrip AZ Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Expert Advice The main dose should be taken at night as this drug may produce drowsiness or sleepiness. It can take 4 to 6 weeks for Amitrip az to start working. You should continue the treatment for at least 6 months after you feel better to stop depression from coming back. If your doctor asks you to stop Amitrip az, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may decrease alertness. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Amitrip az, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness. The addiction/dependence potential of Amitrip az is very less. It may be extremely dangerous in overdose.
Common Side Effect Sleepiness, Blurred vision, Increased heart rate, Dryness in mouth, Constipation, Weight gain, Difficulty in urination, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing).
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Amitrip AZ Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Amitrip AZ Tablet may impair your alertness which may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney Amitrip AZ Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Amitrip AZ Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Amitrip AZ Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Amitrip AZ Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Amitrip AZ Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Amitrip AZ Tablet increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
