Alchohol Interaction Taking Chlorthalidone with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Fatigue, Headache, Dizziness, Slow heart rate, Increased blood uric acid, Decreased potassium level in blood, Glucose intolerance, Altered blood lipids, Cold extremities, Decreased magnesium level in blood, Increased calcium level in blood.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Starcad CT 50 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Metoprolol Succinate and Chlorthalidone. tMetoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and make the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic which lowers blood pressure by removing extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
