Alchohol Interaction Rofact MR Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Rofact MR Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Rofact MR Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Indigestion, Dryness in mouth, Flatulence, Swelling of hands, Swelling of feet, Weakness, Sleepiness, Dizziness, Flu-like symptoms.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Rofact MR Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Rofact MR Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Rofact MR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Rofact MR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Rofact MR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Rofact MR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Rofact MR Tablet is not advised in patients with severe liver disease. Liver function tests are recommended before the start of treatment and then on a regular basis as advised.
Mechanism of action Rofact MR Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Rofecoxib and Tizanidine which relieve pain and relax the muscles. Rofecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles.
