Common Side Effect Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), Edema (swelling), Weight gain, Bone fracture, Blurred vision, Respiratory tract infection.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels which may become normal after a long time.
Liver Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet may be needed. Mechanism of action Pioglit GF 15 mg/2 mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Pioglitazone and glimepiride. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
