Pregnancy Interaction Mylone Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Mylone Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Expert Advice Always take the complete course of treatment, as advised by your doctor even if you feel better. It may cause side effects like nausea, stomach upset, and a metallic taste in the mouth. If you are using Metronidazole in a high dose or for a prolonged time, there is a risk of more side effects, like nerve damage. You should not drink alcohol during or for 48 hours after treatment. You may develop nausea, vomiting, flushing and headache if you take it together. Inform your doctor if you have a liver disease. Your dose may need to be adjusted in severe liver disease.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Headache, Dryness in mouth, Metallic taste.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Avoid Mylone Tablet with herbs/food with anti-platelet activity such as alfalfa, anise, bilberry, grape seed, green tea, turmeric, fenugreek, garlic, ginger.
Driving It is not known whether Mylone Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Mylone Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Mylone Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Mylone Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Metronidazole is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA.
