Alchohol Interaction Gabaval AT Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Gabaval AT Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Gabaval AT Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Constipation, Difficulty in urination, Weight gain, Sleepiness, Dizziness, Tiredness, Uncoordinated body movements, Increased heart rate, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Blurred vision, Dryness in mouth.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Gabaval AT Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Gabaval AT Tablet may impair your alertness which may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney Gabaval AT Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Gabaval AT Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Gabaval AT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Gabaval AT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Gabaval AT Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Gabaval AT Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Gabapentin and Amitriptyline. Gabapentin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) that stop the movement of pain signals in the brain. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
