Alchohol Interaction Taking a large amount of alcohol can increase acidity and cause acid reflux in the food pipe causing heartburn. This would decrease the effect of this drug and can aggravate your underlying condition.
Pregnancy Interaction Esium IT Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Esium IT Capsule during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Stomach pain, Diarrhoea, Headache, Flatulence, Increased saliva production.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Esium IT Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.Take Esium IT Capsule 30 minutes before food.
Driving It is not known whether Esium IT Capsule alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Esium IT Capsule in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Esium IT Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Esium IT Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Esium IT Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Esomeprazole and Itopride which relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps relieve acid-related indigestion and heartburn. Itopride is a prokinetic which works on the region in the brain that controls vomiting. It also acts on the upper digestive tract and helps food move more easily through the stomach.
