Pregnancy Interaction Durogesic 50mcg Patch may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Durogesic 50mcg Patch is safe to use during lactation. \nHuman studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.Consult a doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness (more than usual), difficulty breastfeeding, breathing problems, or limpness.
Expert Advice Use Durogesic as instructed by your doctor. Never take in greater amounts or more often than prescribed. It causes sleepiness or drowsiness. If this happens to you, do not drive or use machinery. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Durogesic, as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness. Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems. Store opioid pain relievers in a safe place and out of reach of others.
Common Side Effect Headache, Dizziness, Vomiting, Weakness, Dehydration, Nausea, Edema (swelling), Fatigue, Anemia (low number of red blood cells), Constipation.
How to Use Use this medicine in dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label before use. Make sure the skin is clean and dry. Remove the protective liner of the patch. Do not touch the sticky side. With sticky side down, place the patch evenly onto the skin.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.As Durogesic 50mcg Patch may impair your mental and/or physical ability to perform potentially hazardous tasks such as driving.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Durogesic 50mcg Patch in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.Caution should be excercised in patients with underlying kidney disease.
Liver There is limited information available on the use of Durogesic 50mcg Patch in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Durogesic 50mcg Patch is an opioid analgesic ( pain reliever). It works by decreasing the perception of pain by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain.
