Alchohol Interaction Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy Interaction Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is usually not used during breastfeeding because it suppresses lactation.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Loss of appetite, Altered taste, Diarrhoea, Dizziness, Fatigue, Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level).
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.
Driving Dizziness or weakness due to low blood pressure may occur in some patients while on Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet. If you are affected in this way, your ability to drive may be impaired.
Kidney Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Diacriptin M 0.8 mg/500 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Bromocriptine and metformin.Bromocriptine is a dopamine agonist which lowers the elevated dopamine (chemical messenger in brain) levels. This reduces glucose production in the liver and lowers blood glucose levels. Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of glucose in your body and allows better use of existing insulin. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
