Alchohol Interaction Cloclam 50mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Cloclam 50mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Cloclam 50mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Expert Advice The main dose should be taken at night as this drug may produce drowsiness or sleepiness. It can take 4 to 6 weeks for Cloclam to start working. You should continue the treatment for at least 6 months after you feel better to stop depression from coming back. If your doctor asks you to stop Cloclam, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Avoid driving or operating machinery as it may decrease alertness. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Cloclam, as it may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness. The addiction/dependence potential of Cloclam is very less. It may be extremely dangerous in overdose.
Common Side Effect Sleepiness, Blurred vision, Dryness in mouth, Difficulty in urination, Constipation, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Weight gain, Increased heart rate.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Cloclam 50mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.If you feel dizzy, tired, have blurred vision, have difficulty concentrating, or have other effects such as confusion, disorientation or your depression gets worse with Cloclam 50mg Tablet, do not drive.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Cloclam 50mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.Caution should be exercised in patients with underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advised while you are taking this medicine.
Liver Cloclam 50mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cloclam 50mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advisable when you are taking this medicine.
Mechanism of action Cloclam 50mg Tablet increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression.
