Pregnancy Interaction Azaprin Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Azaprin Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Expert Advice Your doctor has prescribed Azaprin to stop the body from rejecting a transplanted organ (e.g. kidney, heart or liver). Azaprin also relieves joint pain and inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis. You may have to take additional medications along with Azaprin for better relief of symptoms. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding. Avoid contact with people who have cold, flu or other contagious illness. Notify your doctor if you have any signs of infection such as a fever or sore throat.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Fungal infection, Bacterial infection, Viral infection, Decreased white blood cell count, Low blood platelets.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Azaprin Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving It is not known whether Azaprin Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney Azaprin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Azaprin Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Azaprin Tablet is not recommended in patients with serious kidney disease.
Liver Azaprin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Azaprin Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Azaprin Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Mechanism of action Azaprin Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It reduces the action of body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ. It also blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation, swelling, and redness associated with certain joint diseases.
