Alchohol Interaction Taking Clonidine with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Arkamin 100mcg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Arkamin 100mcg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Expert Advice Do not discontinue Arkamin abruptly. Dosage must be reduced gradually. Dizziness or fainting may occur, especially when rising from a lying or sitting position. Getting up slowly may help improve the problem. Avoid driving or using machinery if you feel dizzy after taking Arkamin. Record your blood pressure as directed. Notify your doctor if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Eat healthy (low-fat, high-fibre, low-sodium diet), quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, increase your physical activity, watch your weight, and reduce stress.
Common Side Effect Dizziness, Fatigue, Sleepiness, Dryness in mouth, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing).
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Arkamin 100mcg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Arkamin 100mcg Tablet may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Kidney Arkamin 100mcg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Arkamin 100mcg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advisable for dose adjustment.
Liver Arkamin 100mcg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Arkamin 100mcg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Arkamin 100mcg Tablet is an alpha-2 agonist. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body.
