Lactation Interaction Amiodar 200mg Tablet is unsafe to use during lactation. \nData suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby, or the mother is suffering from a condition in which breastfeeding is not advisable.
Expert Advice It is very effective in the treatment of various types of arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythm). Amiodar has several serious adverse effects and is indicated only when the condition is serious and no other treatments are suitable. Notify your doctor if you develop breathlessness, persistent cough, jaundice, restlessness, weight loss/gain, or eye problems. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight as there may be a risk of photosensitivity. Notify your doctor about all other medicines that you are taking as Amiodar can interact with many medicines.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Constipation, Slow heart rate, Increased liver enzymes, Altered taste, Increased level of thyroid hormones, Corneal microdeposits, Photosensitivity, Decreased thyroid stimulating hormone, Tremor, Sleep disorder, Eczema.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Amiodar 200mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Amiodar 200mg Tablet may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Kidney Amiodar 200mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Amiodar 200mg Tablet is recommended.However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease.
Liver Amiodar 200mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Amiodar 200mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Amiodar 200mg Tablet is an anti-arrhythmic medication. It works by blocking abnormal electrical signals in the heart to correct irregular heartbeat to a normal rhythm.
