Lactation Interaction Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.Larger doses or prolonged use of Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby
Common Side Effect Nausea, Vomiting, Constipation, Sleepiness, Lightheadedness, Dizziness, Shortness of breath, Sweating.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.As Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may cause dizziness, blurred vision or the inability to think clearly.
Kidney Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.Use of Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Alkof DX 4mg/10mg Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine and Codeine which relieve dry cough. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic. It blocks the action of a chemical messenger (histamine) which may trigger cough due to allergy. Codeine is a cough suppressant. It suppresses cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain.
