Alchohol Interaction Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Altered taste, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Indigestion, Headache, Dizziness, Decreased blood pressure, Cough, Weakness, Electrolyte imbalance, Glucose intolerance, Increased blood uric acid, Increased blood lipid level.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for better dose adjustment.
Liver Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Acupil H 20mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Quinapril and chlorthalidone which lower blood pressure effectively. Quinapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
