Alchohol Interaction Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking tolterodine.
Pregnancy Interaction Toltam Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Toltam Capsule is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Dryness in mouth, Blurred vision, Constipation, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Ejaculation disorder.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Toltam Capsule is to be taken with food.
Driving Toltam Capsule may make you feel dizzy, drowsy or affect your vision. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Kidney Toltam Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Toltam Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Toltam Capsule should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Toltam Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Toltam Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Tolterodine which relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker while Tolterodine is an antimuscarinic. They work by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily. This prevents frequent, urgent or uncontrolled urination.
