Pregnancy Interaction Septigard Dusting Powder may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Septigard Dusting Powder is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.The baby's skin should not come into direct contact with the treated area of skin. Water-miscible cream/gel is preferred as ointments may expose the baby to harmful effects of Septigard Dusting Powder via licking.
Common Side Effect Dry skin, Application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching and redness).
How to Use This medicine is for external use only. Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area before application and do not rub.
Driving Septigard Dusting Powder does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Mechanism of action Septigard Dusting Powder is a combination of two medicines: Metronidazole Topical and Povidone Iodine.tMetronidazole Topical is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic applied on skin which is infected or is likely to get infected. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.
