Alchohol Interaction Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy Interaction ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Expert Advice You have been prescribed this combination medicine as it can control blood sugar better than metformin alone. Blood sugar is controlled throughout the day, including after meals. Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser as compared to other diabetes medicines. Take with meals to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Monitor your blood sugar regularly. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, or persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
Common Side Effect Diarrhoea, Nausea, Vomiting, Stomach upset, Headache, Nasal congestion, Sore throat, Respiratory tract infection, Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is to be taken with food.
Driving Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action ZITA MET TABLET 50MG/1000MG is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Sitagliptin and Metformin. They help your pancreas produce more insulin, facilitate effective use of insulin by the body, and reduce excess sugar that your liver makes. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
