Alchohol Interaction Taking phenylpropanolamine with alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects such as increased heart rate, chest pain, or blood pressure changes.
Pregnancy Interaction Eskold Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Eskold Capsule during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Stomach pain / epigastric pain, Sleepiness, Dizziness, Coordination impaired, Thickened respiratory tract secretions, Increased blood pressure, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Palpitations.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Eskold Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Eskold Capsule may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Eskold Capsule in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.
Liver There is limited information available on the use of Eskold Capsule in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Eskold Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Diphenhydramine and Phenylpropanolamine which relieve common cold symptoms. Diphenhydramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Phenylpropanolamine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.
