Alchohol Interaction Atenolol and alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Ankle swelling, Headache, Tiredness, Palpitations, Cold extremities, Sleepiness, Nausea, Edema (swelling), Slow heart rate, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Constipation.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.Take it either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule may make you feel dizzy, faint, extremely tired or have visual disturbances. This may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended and can help in better dose adjustment.

Mechanism of action Presolar 50 mg/20 mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines: Atenolol and nifedipine which lower blood pressure effectively. Atenolol is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart to slow down the heart rate while nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker which works by relaxing blood vessels. Together, they make the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.
