Alchohol Interaction Taking Chlorthalidone with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Altered taste, Diarrhoea, Stomach upset, Weakness, Headache, Dizziness, Increased blood uric acid, Increased blood lipid level, Electrolyte imbalance, Glucose intolerance, Decreased blood pressure.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Olmegard CT 20 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Olmesartan and chlorthalidone which lower blood pressure effectively.tOlmesartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
