Alchohol Interaction Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy Interaction Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER should be used with caution during lactation. \nBreast feeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.If a single dose of Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.
Expert Advice Always take the complete course of treatment, as advised by your doctor even if you feel better. It may cause side effects like nausea, stomach upset, and a metallic taste in the mouth. If you are using Metrogyl in a high dose or for a prolonged time, there is a risk of more side effects, like nerve damage. You should not drink alcohol during or for 48 hours after treatment. You may develop nausea, vomiting, flushing and headache if you take it together. Inform your doctor if you have a liver disease. Your dose may need to be adjusted in severe liver disease.

Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is to be taken with food.Avoid Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER with herbs/food with anti-platelet activity such as alfalfa, anise, bilberry, grape seed, green tea, turmeric, fenugreek, garlic, ginger.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.
Kidney Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is recommended.Patients undergoing kidney dialysis should take this medicine after the dialysis treatment.
Liver Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Metrogyl 600mg Tablet ER is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA.
