Alchohol Interaction Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Diarrhoea, Constipation, Fatigue, Headache, Dizziness, Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), Increased blood uric acid, Decreased potassium level in blood, Glucose intolerance, Altered blood lipids, Cold extremities, Slow heart rate, Decreased magnesium level in blood, Increased calcium level in blood.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Driving Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Metpure H 50mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Metoprolol Succinate and Hydrochlorothiazide. tMetoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and make the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic which lowers blood pressure by removing extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
