Alchohol Interaction Taking Metoprolol with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Met XL-T 50 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Met XL-T 50 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Headache, Weakness, Dizziness, Cold extremities, Slow heart rate, Increased potassium level in blood, Numbness of extremity, Decreased blood pressure.
How to Use Use it as advised by your doctor or check the label for directions before use. Met XL-T 50 Tablet is to be taken with food.
Driving Met XL-T 50 Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Met XL-T 50 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Met XL-T 50 Tablet is recommended.
Liver Met XL-T 50 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Met XL-T 50 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Met XL-T 50 Tablet is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Telmisartan and Metoprolol Succinate. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and lower blood pressure. Together they allow the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
