Alchohol Interaction Alcohol use can increase acid secretion, acid reflux in food pipe causing heartburn and decreasing effect of this drug. Also Lafutidine+Domperidone can decrease alcohol breakdown and increase its level in blood.
Pregnancy Interaction Lafaxid-D Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Lafaxid-D Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Diarrhoea, Dryness in mouth, Fatigue, Headache, Muscle pain, Drowsiness, Dizziness, Increased liver enzymes, Protein in urine, Increased uric acid level in blood.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
Driving Lafaxid-D Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Lafaxid-D Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Lafaxid-D Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Lafaxid-D Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Lafaxid-D Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Lafaxid-D Tablet is not recommended in patients with moderate and severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Lafaxid-D Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Lafutidine and Domperidone which relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Lafutidine is an H2 blocker (antacid). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid-related indigestion and heartburn. Domperidone is a prokinetic which works on the region in the brain that controls vomiting. It also acts on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing food to move more easily through the stomach.
