Alchohol Interaction Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Constipation, Dryness in mouth, Sedation, Weight gain, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Urinary retention, Increased prolactin level in blood, Dizziness, Blurred vision, Nervousness.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Take it with food, if it causes stomach upset.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet can cause blurring of vision, dizziness, mild nausea, and mental confusion in some cases. This may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney There is limited information available on the use of Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.Patients with kidney disease should be closely monitored by a doctor while taking this medicine.
Liver There is limited information available on the use of Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Hexyzine 5 mg/2 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Trifluoperazine and Trihexyphenidyl.tTrifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger (dopamine) in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. However, it may cause side effects such as involuntary movements (shaking of hands, muscle spasms). Trihexyphenidyl is added to treat and prevent these side effects.
