How to Use | Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hepexa M Tablet is to be taken with food.Hepexa M Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach. |
Driving | Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive. |
Kidney | Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Hepexa M Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine. |
Liver | Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Hepexa M Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. |
Mechanism of action | Hepexa M Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Metformin and ursodeoxycholic acid which treat fatty liver with diabetes. Metformin is a biguanide which works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, increasing insulin sensitivity, and improving liver blood flow. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is a naturally occurring bile acid which protects the liver cells from toxins and helps the liver to perform its normal functions. |
