Alchohol Interaction Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy Interaction Hepexa M Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Hepexa M Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Altered taste, Loss of appetite, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Sticky stools.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hepexa M Tablet is to be taken with food.Hepexa M Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.
Driving Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Hepexa M Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Hepexa M Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Hepexa M Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Metformin and ursodeoxycholic acid which treat fatty liver with diabetes. Metformin is a biguanide which works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, increasing insulin sensitivity, and improving liver blood flow. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is a naturally occurring bile acid which protects the liver cells from toxins and helps the liver to perform its normal functions.
