Alchohol Interaction Taking metformin with alcohol can cause lactic acidosis and you may experience malaise, respiratory distress, slow or irregular heartbeat, sleepiness, stomach upset, or other unusual symptoms.
Pregnancy Interaction Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), Altered taste, Nausea, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Headache, Upper respiratory tract infection.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.This medicine may cause stomach upset if taken empty stomach.
Driving Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
Liver Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Glifil M Forte 5 mg/500 mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Glibenclamide and Metformin. Glibenclamide is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
