Alchohol Interaction Efelin Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pregnancy Interaction Efelin Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Efelin Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Vomiting, Bloating, Stomach discomfort, Diarrhoea, Dizziness, Headache, Sweating, Skin rash, Tremor, Palpitations, Muscle cramp, Restlessness, Increased heart rate.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Efelin Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.You can take it with food if stomach upset occurs.Avoid Efelin Tablet with caffeine and chocolate as well as food containing caffeine and chocolate such as tea leaves, cocoa beans.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Efelin Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, increased or uneven heart rate, muscle cramps or muscle pain. This may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney Efelin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Efelin Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Efelin Tablet in patients with kidney disease.
Liver Efelin Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Efelin Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Efelin Tablet in patients with liver disease.
Mechanism of action Efelin Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Salbutamol, etofylline and bromhexine. Salbutamol and etofylline are bronchodilators which relax the muscles in the airways and widen the airways. Bromhexine is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Together, they make breathing easier.
