Alchohol Interaction Taking Losartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure.
Pregnancy Interaction Covance-AT Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Covance-AT Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Altered taste, Constipation, Diarrhoea, Headache, Weakness, Dizziness, Cold extremities, Stomach upset, Increased potassium level in blood, Slow heart rate, Numbness of extremity, Decreased blood pressure.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Covance-AT Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Driving Covance-AT Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Covance-AT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Covance-AT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended and can help in better dose adjustment.
Liver Covance-AT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Covance-AT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Covance-AT Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Mechanism of action Covance-AT Tablet is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Atenolol and Losartan. Atenolol is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and lower blood pressure. Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. Together they allow the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
