Alchohol Interaction Taking phenylpropanolamine with alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects such as increased heart rate, chest pain, or blood pressure changes.
Pregnancy Interaction Cope P Drop may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction No information is available on the use of Cope P Drop during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Common Side Effect Nausea, Sleepiness, Allergic reaction, Increased blood pressure, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Palpitations.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a marked dropper and take it as directed. Cope P Drop may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.
Driving Cope P Drop may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney Cope P Drop is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Cope P Drop may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.Use of Cope P Drop may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver Cope P Drop should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cope P Drop may be needed. Please consult your doctor.However, the use of Cope P Drop is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
Mechanism of action Cope P Drop is a combination of three medicines: Paracetamol / Acetaminophen, Phenylpropanolamine and Chlorpheniramine which relieve cold symptoms. Paracetamol / Acetaminophen is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and fever. Phenylpropanolamine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing.
