Alchohol Interaction Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy Interaction Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation Interaction Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. \nLimited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Common Side Effect Weakness, Cold extremities, Slow heart rate, Nightmare, Increased blood lipid level, Increased blood uric acid, Glucose intolerance, Decreased potassium level in blood, Decreased sodium level in blood, Decreased magnesium level in blood, Increased uric acid level in blood.
How to Use Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.Take this medicine before food.
Driving Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet may cause visual disturbances, hallucinations, fatigue, mental confusion, dizziness or tiredness. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Mechanism of action Ciplar H 40 mg/25 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Propranolol and Hydrochlorothiazide. Propranolol is a beta blocker. It works by widening and relaxing the blood vessels, thereby lowering blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
