| Lactation Interaction | AM Dopa 250mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. \nHuman studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby. |
| Expert Advice | Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor even if you feel better. For best results, take Am dopa at the same time every day. Take last dose of the day at bedtime. Eat healthy (low-fat, high-fibre, low-sodium diet), quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, increase your physical activity, watch your weight, and reduce stress. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help. Dizziness or fainting may occur, especially when rising from a lying or sitting position. Getting up slowly may help improve the problem. May cause dizziness and lightheadedness. If this happens to you, do not drive or use machinery. Urine may become red-black when left standing. |
| Common Side Effect | Dizziness, Fatigue, Sleepiness, Dryness in mouth, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing). |
| How to Use | Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. AM Dopa 250mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.Avoid AM Dopa 250mg Tablet with high protein meals such as cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, protein powder, eggs and milk. |
| Driving | AM Dopa 250mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive. |
| Kidney | AM Dopa 250mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of AM Dopa 250mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended for dose adjustment. |
| Liver | AM Dopa 250mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor. |
| Mechanism of action | AM Dopa 250mg Tablet is an alpha-2 agonist. It works by relaxing blood vessels which makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood around the body. |
